Oakland Volunteer Fire Department

Oakland, MD

Oakland Volunteer Fire Department has outgrown their existing facility in the center of town.  The Fire Department purchased an approximately 12.5 acre site to accommodate a new fire station and community center.  The design concept is to develop two separate facilities, with separate parking and entrances, thus separating the emergency vehicle activity from the public access.

The  fire department will be a single-story facility of approximately 15,600 square feet.  It is designed to include five drive-thru apparatus bays with expansion capability.  The facility will meet all current NFPA design recommendations for new fire stations, including separation of areas to promote a healthy environment.

The community center is designed to accommodate 230 guests, with expansion capability for an addition 120 people. A full-service kitchen and an area  for the fire company’s antique 1930 engine are also included in the design.
