McVeytown Community Local Mission Service Foundation purchased the vacant middle school in 2014 with the intention of developing a faith-based community center. The 44,000 square foot facility was built in 1976 and was structurally sound. Having a regulation-sized high school gymnasium and full-service kitchen was critical to the renovation. The renovated facility now includes a gymnasium, a weight room, an aerobic room, an exercise room, locker rooms, a dining area, and a full-service kitchen. The project included the replacement of the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, an installation of a new fire suppression system, new kitchen equipment, new toilets and locker room facilities, and various energy and accessibility upgrades to meet to current codes. All areas within the facility are accessible.
